Testimonials

The following are statements prepared by the current board about their positions on the Tenants Association Board:
President
As T.A. President, my primary responsibility is overseeing the T.A. Board.  This position requires a flexible schedule including  occasional business hour meetings. It also requires strong leadership and communication skills.  As president, I organize our monthly board meetings and maintaining frequent communications with the board.  I am also responsible for meeting with housing monthly to represent FSH residents needs, concerns and issues. Outside of meetings, I am in frequent dialogues via email with various University representatives and FSH residents.  On average I spend 15-18hrs a month for this position.  I enjoy this leadership position and consider it an honor to represent our residents concerns.  It's also a great way to make a difference in our community and an opportunity to work with a fantastic team!

Vice President
As Vice President of the TA, my main responsibility is to assist the President in running the board. I meet with Housing monthly with the President and discuss issues as needed. I spend about 15 hours per month on average working on the Tenants Association. My favorite part about working with the TA is being involved in our community and making a difference.

Secretary
As Secretary for the TA Board, I am responsible for taking minutes at General Membership and TA Board meetings and compiling/editing the quarterly newsletter, THE TENANTS' ADVOCATE.  I also help plan events for the residents and work on publicity with the Webmaster.  This comes to approximately 8-10 service hours per month.  It is a joy to be able to play a part in making positive changes for the community.

Treasurer
As Treasurer I manage all the financial business of the TA board. This includes writing requisitions for TA officer stipends, reimbursing members for money spent for TA events, updating the yearly budget, and providing stipend reimbursements to tenants who move out mid-year.  In addition, I attend all TA board meetings and events, help post newsletters and event advertisements, and am involved in event planning.  I spend 8-10 hours per month on work for the Tenants Association board.  My favorite part of working on the TA board is getting involved in the community.
